PonicLabs is an enterprise of engineers where we explore and experiment with novel and alternative cultivating methods without the use of soil.
Mission
We’re an agritech company focused on developing sustainable hydroponics methods, designs, techniques, and processes. Our long-term vision is ensuring that hydroponic-based CEA/IA technologies complement regenerative soil farming practices in our struggle against Climate Change and Famine.
Business Model
We’re currently a boostrapped enterprise. We aim to explore a sustainable business model (e.g., online courses, books, consulting, technical advising, trainings & workshops, etc) to finance our R&D, our free library, and future humanitarian collaborations with national and international partners.
Philosophy
- Our key assumption is that we are collectively on track to miss all our climate change target goals (1), while arable land is being degraded and unable to sustain harvests at an unprecedented rate. (2)
- We understand the energy and resource-extraction costs of contemporary industrial soil and hydroponic farming, which use mineral/inorganic fertilizers, and produce polluted runoff.
- We recognize that any innovations in farming must be balanced with free access to knowledge and expertise, and areas most at-risk need to be at the forefront of promising pilot projects and initiatives.
- Lastly, we prioritize low-tech but highly technical expertise and wise solutions, in order to reduce material needs and complexity, and to increase robustness and resilience.
